In Concert 12"x12" Oil on Linen
I'm way behind on posts, I know. This painting is available at Gander Gallery, Manchester, VT. The figures are from a dance concert in the Art Institute of Chicago. Little did the dancers know that they'd be immortalized inspecting an antique bedspread for dryness. In a way, I imagine that painting figures into scenes of my own creation must be something like discovering characters for a novel. I start wondering about them. What they are doing. Why? What is their relationship?
thanks for looking

They are so happy to be taking a break from the endless dance practices, surely. I love that bedspread.
Mel, I love your take on the scene. I love the bedspread, too. I wish I really owned one like it.
With your new scenes of people and laundry I find myself hearing in the scenario things they are saying to one another. Like "Wouldn't this make a great costume or part of our stage set?"
"Do you think ol' lady Bettancourt would notice if we stole this bedspread off her line?"
Haha. Thanks for your contributions. That was fun.
I noticed this unique painting last week, and I really like it. The mystery has been injected very well into a lovely rhythm. The activity and material forming a bond.
