In the second photo I think I went with the dark green next and then I broke with my usual method and applied the lightest value. Just to see what would happen. Sometimes I really like the painting best at this "barely begun" stage.

Yes, I often think that there is a vigor, an absolute that is captured as I first put down color, shape and line. Then the mind says OK now you must work it but often that dilutes everything so that I go back trying to find the vigor. I keep hoping the process will allow me to know better that first energy.
