Hummingbird Breakfast

Oil on Board 9x12 SOLD

I know it's hard to believe, but I used a reference photo for this. The Buddleia (sp?) is an odd variety. I've moved it twice already. The blossoms ARE beautiful, BUT, most of the time the shrub actually has so many dead blossoms that it detracts from the new ones. I didn't include any dead ones. I think this spring it will move further down the hill, maybe behind the Nicotiana "Only the Lonely". Or maybe the deer will eat it. They have been burrowing through the snow to munch on something.

Thanks Kathy,
I did this one partly at your urging to "paint birds". Loved painting it.

Dale....you have such a range of work and having just heard you aren't doing OPEN STUDIO and are selling at Redux I'm disappointed. How come??????

My "studio" is a cramped, corner of a big room. I had thought the open studio weekend might have jolted me to create a better place to work, but then I weighed that against getting out of town this winter and chose...... sunshine and heat, snorkeling among the fishies, listening to the howler monkeys and cicadas, painting that blue-green color.
I also, despite my intention to always be an optimist, had an attack of doubt that enough folks would make the drive to Danby. I hadn't been able to rustle up any other local artisans in time for deadline. What's wrong with selling at Redux? I've done well there.
